Steven Lee
Senior Manager, Innovation & Technology
Steven Lee focuses on uncovering technologies and business opportunities in the energy and environment domains.  

Steven specialises in waste valorisation technologies including repurposing and recycling of lithium-ion batteries, single use plastics, electronic waste and food processing waste. He is also interested in and is actively scouting for innovations that reduces the energy use and carbon footprint in various sectors. He has contributed to four white papers that shares insights in the latest technologies and collaboration opportunities in the aforementioned areas.  

To date, Steven has facilitated more than 28 collaborations among various stakeholders involving enterprises, research institutes and the institutes of higher learning. These collaborations will potentially translate into new commercial products or solutions that will benefit the stakeholders over the next few years.   

Steven started his career with Sembcorp Marine where he worked on the development of marine exhaust gas cleaning systems and ballast water management systems. He was involved in the control systems design, pilot testing, to full-scale system commissioning onboard a cargo vessel operating in the Baltic Sea. Steven has also facilitated collaborations with research institutes focusing on advancing the application of liquefied natural gas as a cleaner fuel for the marine industry.  

Steven holds an Executive Master of Business of Administration (EMBA) from Quantic School of Business and Technology and a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) from the University of Technology Malaysia.
Faith Teng
Senior Manager, Innovation Advisory
Faith Teng works closely with enterprises in the food industry to understand their innovation needs and identifies opportunities where IPI’s Innovation Advisors can value-add to their growth and expansion plans.

To date, Faith has successfully matched more than 20 companies to the relevant Innovation Advisors, to help them address challenges from product development, development of growth strategy to optimisation of manufacturing processes. These projects can potentially translate into increase in revenue and propel the companies into the next stage of growth.

Prior to joining IPI, Faith spent the last eight years handling different portfolios in industry development at the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA). Her last role involved managing the design thinking programme under the PIXEL innovation programme and the Open Innovation Platform (OIP). She started her career as a programmer in Accenture, before moving on to pre-sales roles in local SMEs.

Faith holds a Bachelor of Computing from the National University of Singapore.
Goh Siong Teck
Principal Manager, Innovation & Technology
Goh Siong Teck leads the Innovation Managers cluster covering the Manufacturing, Infocomm and Built Environment domains. His focus area spans the precision engineering, automation as well as process industry sectors. His role also involves driving collaborations with strategic multipliers and industry groups, bridging technologies to business needs, supporting the development of new products and processes for enterprise growth. To date, Siong Teck has facilitated close to 15 collaborations involving local and overseas enterprises, multinationals as well as academia, bridging technological needs with relevant solutions from Singapore and abroad.

Siong Teck has over 20 years of public and private industry experience. His previous appointment was with the National University of Singapore’s technology transfer office, driving programmes such as consortiums, accelerators and innovation clusters. His experience also encompassed public sector service with SPRING Singapore (now Enterprise Singapore) through technology grants assessments and seed investment programmes, account managing enterprises in the advanced manufacturing space. Siong Teck started his engineering career in the defence industry, as an Assistant Principal Engineer developing military vehicle subsystems, followed by a stint as a Senior Engineer in a global HVAC MNC.

Siong Teck holds a Master of Science in Systems Design and Management from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University. He is also a certified Project Management Professional.
Lee Ya Ling
Senior Manager, Innovation & Technology
Lee Ya Ling focuses on uncovering innovation opportunities in the materials and chemicals domains.

She engages various stakeholders from the industry and academia to understand industry innovation needs, identify technology partners and technical experts, and facilitate technology collaborations. To date, Ya Ling has facilitated more than 19 collaborations among various stakeholders involving enterprises, research institutes and the institutes of higher learning.

Ya Ling specialises in functional coatings, additive and materials technologies for diverse industries and applications, such as indoor air quality, solar control, antimicrobial, agrochemicals, fuel cells, thermal efficiency, electronics and personal care. Ya Ling has contributed to 8 white papers and technology landscape studies that share insights on the latest technologies and collaboration opportunities.

Prior to joining IPI, Ya Ling was a Senior Chemical Development Engineer at Philips Electronics Singapore. She managed coating development and industrialisation for domestic appliances, including chemical and process development, project management and manufacturing support. She also collaborated with local and international scientific institutes in joint development projects.

Ya Ling holds a Diploma for Graduates in Management from the University of London, London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Chemistry from the National University of Singapore.

Head, Innovation Advisory
Peter Tay helms the advisory team of 34 C-suite business leaders to advise the leadership bench of IPI's client enterprises in various industries across the engineering, manufacturing, medtech, food, digital and sustainability spaces. Today, the team has helped over 100 client enterprises, to 10x their businesses, and to bring about over US$1B in projected attributable revenue through product development, business strategy and tactical execution.

Peter is a prize-winning rocket scientist and has helped to engineer growth across the deep tech space from guided missiles to technology business. He has led multidisciplinary teams globally (Middle East, Ex-Soviet bloc, Africa, Europe, USA and Asia) and helmed corporate leadership roles overseeing technology portfolio development and business lines to drive strategic growth.

Peter has a Master of Science in Guided Weapon Systems from the Royal Military College of Science, Cranfield University, U.K., whilst on an overseas postgraduate scholarship from ST Engineering; and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield, U.K., at which he won the University Baker Prize.
Dr Grace Wee
Senior Manager, Innovation Advisory
Grace Wee is passionate in working closely with local enterprises by connecting them with business leaders who can value-add to their business growth. She focuses on uncovering innovations and business opportunities in the area of sustainability such as food security, low carbon emission and circular economy.

Prior to joining IPI, Grace was a Technology Manager in the Industry Liaison Office at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Her main role was to provide advisory services for NUS researchers in areas of innovation, commercialisation, intellectual property management, materials transfer, technology licensing and incubation of start-ups. Her technology portfolios were in the areas of green building, industrial design, food science and environmental sustainability. She also chaired a funding committee that managed an annual fund of S$2.5 million, utilised for supporting technology translation projects in NUS.

Grace holds a Ph.D. and a Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Science from Nanyang Technological University and a Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from the National University of Singapore. She is also a registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) of the Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals (ATTP).
John Clarke
Senior Manager, Innovation Advisory
John Clarke leverages his business and technology background to support companies in their digitalisation journeys. He also helps companies in the sustainability sector (built environment, energy and waste), including those organisations that recognise the value of a sustainability focus as a key growth driver.

A focus on innovation as a platform for growth has been a common theme throughout John’s career. Whether in providing thought leadership to C-suite executives on emerging digital marketplaces across China and the Asia-Pacific with Andersen Consulting, in the delivery of Advanced Analytics and Data Science projects for BHP, or in helping tech start-ups in the space and recruitment sectors with their market entry and expansion objectives.

John has had postings in France, the United Kingdom and Mongolia, and has been instrumental in the delivery of large-scale transformation initiatives. These include post-merger integration, implementation of performance management systems, and establishment of organisational effectiveness frameworks to support first commercial production. He was also involved in the delivery of regional development initiatives and facilitating engagements with a FTSE100 Chairman, Executive Committee, and government ministers on the alignment of company and national interests.

John holds a Bachelor of (Pure) Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Adelaide, Australia. He has also completed the Business Leadership Development Program at Duke University.
